Softball Recap: Trenton Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Trenton had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Williston Red Devils by a score of 6-2. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Addison Allaire was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Presley Akins and Charleigh Philmon did most of the damage at the plate: Akins went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Philmon went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles Philmon has posted since back in March.

Trenton's record now sits at 15-6. As for Williston, they moved to 13-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Trenton will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Moore Haven at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Terriers have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Williston, they will host Fort Meade at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Miners have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
