Memorial has gone 8-1 against Cypress Falls recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Memorial will venture away from home to square off against Cypress Falls at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Memorial has five straight victories, Cypress Falls has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Memorial can't be too worried about heading out to take on Cypress Falls: they just beat Stratford at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. Memorial came out on top against Stratford by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday.
Elise Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Memorial saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Borrego, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Borrego wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Cypress Falls came up short against Cypress Ridge on Tuesday and fell 15-12.
Aubrey Leblanc made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Stormie Lewis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Memorial pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Cypress Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Memorial has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Cypress Falls struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Memorial's way against Cypress Falls in their previous matchup back in February, as Memorial made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Memorial since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
