Softball Recap: Wood River Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Wood River waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Canyon Ridge Riverhawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-11 on Tuesday.

Makinzie Nelson made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Nelson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last six games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hadley Elsbree, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Paityn Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Wood River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Wood River's record now sits at 5-9. As for Canyon Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Wood River has already played their next matchup, a 14-3 win against Minico on the 17th. As for Canyon Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-3 defeat against Twin Falls on the 17th.
