Basketball Recap: Mountainside Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mountainside came into Tuesday's match having lost 18 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the San Pasqual Valley Warriors 40-38. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

San Pasqual Valley lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Isaiah Martinez, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Martinez a new career-high in steals (six). Santiago Lopez was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Mountainside's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for San Pasqual Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Mountainside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-46 loss against NFL Yet Academy on the 13th. As for San Pasqual Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-37 defeat against Bagdad on the 13th.
