Baseball Game Preview: Rockland Bulldogs vs. Sandwich Blue Knights

Rockland hasn't had much luck against Sandwich recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Knights at 4:00 p.m.

On Saturday, Rockland came up short against South Shore Vo-Tech and fell 4-1.

Rockland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Hatch, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Austin Daly was another, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Sandwich came tearing into Thursday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Sachems.

The team relied heavily on James Niemiec, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Coughlan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Sandwich's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Rockland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
