Basketball Game Preview: Southwind Jaguars vs. Germantown Red Devils

The Southwind Jaguars will take on the Germantown Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwind is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Southwind beat Collierville 62-53. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Dragons are ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ronald Towns continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 15 en route to 25 points and five assists. Those 25 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kristopher Carrol, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Germantown can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 48-37 win over Cordova. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but the Red Devils were the better team in the second half.

Southwind is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Germantown, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Southwind was able to grind out a solid victory over Germantown in their previous meeting on Monday, winning 51-39. Will Southwind repeat their success, or does Germantown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
