Softball Recap: Hayden's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hayden waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the West Point Warriors by a score of 11-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-2 last Friday.

Hayden got a massive performance out of Payton Hill, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Hill a new career-high. Baylee Scott was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.

Hill wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Hayden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. Hayden is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Hayden pushed their record up to 11-14 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only 4.95 in the others. As for West Point, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hayden will head out to square off against Corner at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hayden knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Corner likes a good challenge. As for West Point, they will head out on the road to take on Russellville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Point has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
