Meanwhile, Topsail got the win against Laney on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won four in a row.

Topsail's got stronger as the match went on, holding Laney to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-13.

Hoggard better focus on containing Hannah Gates and Hannah Losey as the pair were huge in Topsail's win. Gates had 11 assists and five digs, while Losey had 14 assists and six digs.
