Softball Recap: Troup Beats Sabine for Their 11th Straight Victory

Troup had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Sabine Cardinals as they made off with a 16-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in February.

Kiyah Arterberry made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shiloh Sluder, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Ava Hays was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Troup always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sabine only posted an OBP of .308.

Troup's win was their 17th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Sabine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-14.

Coming up, Troup will face off against Arp at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Troup will need to watch out since Arp has now posted at least ten runs in their last nine matches. Sabine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
