Softball Recap: Minersville Wins Going Away Against Weatherly

Minersville barely beat Weatherly the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Battlin' Miners were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Weatherly on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Battlin' Miners in their matchups with Weatherly: they've now won seven in a row.

Cali Laudeman tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabella Rizzardi, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Jacquelyn Motuk was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Minersville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.

Minersville's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Weatherly, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Minersville is set to square off against their familiar foe Shenandoah Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Weatherly will take on rival Nativity BVM at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
