Baseball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Cade Wentworth and Grayson Stack Lead Crystal River to Victory

Crystal River not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Trinity Catholic Celtics an 11-0 shutout. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to McKown Kaden's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Crystal River is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Grayson Stack and Cade Wentworth did most of the damage at the plate: Stack scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Wentworth scored three runs while going 2-for-5. That's the most runs Wentworth has posted since back in April of 2024. Konnor Desmond also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Crystal River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Catholic only managed one hit.

Crystal River's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Trinity Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Crystal River will host Weeki Wachee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weeki Wachee's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Crystal River's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Trinity Catholic, they have already played their next matchup, a 7-6 victory against Forest on the 27th.
