Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Carteret). Everything went their way against the Piscataway Chiefs on Monday as they made off with  a  14-2 victory. The  win was some much needed relief for the Ramblers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
 Luis Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on seven hits. Carteret is 2-1 when  Hernandez allows one or  fewer  earned runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
 On the hitting side,  Lucas Rivera and  Eric Thompson did most of the damage at the plate:  Rivera  got on base  in four of his five plate appearances with four  stolen bases, three  runs,  and three  RBI, while  Thompson  got on base  in four of his five plate appearances with four  stolen bases, three  runs,  and one  triple. That's the most  RBI  Rivera has posted since back in May of 2024.  Miles Ferreiras was another key player,  going 2-for-5 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.
Carteret's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Piscataway, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record  this season.
Carteret will have a chance to go back-to-back against Piscataway: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
