The Arcadia Redskins will head out on the road to face off against the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arcadia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Arcadia didn't have quite enough to beat Ada and fell 3-2. The Redskins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Arcadia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Allyson McCartney also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Waynesfield-Goshen hadn't done well against Ridgedale recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Rockets 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Tarynn Vorhes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tatelyn Faraglia was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Liberty Glaser, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Waynesfield-Goshen's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Arcadia, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Arcadia has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Waynesfield-Goshen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Arcadia took their victory against Waynesfield-Goshen in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 20-3 score. Do the Redskins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
