Basketball Recap: Deer Park Takes a Loss

Deer Park suffered their biggest defeat since December 30, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees 59-29. While losing is never fun, the Deer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 374th in Texas, while the Bees are ranked 50th in Ohio).

Shelby Tortorici and Emily Ripley certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Tortorici posted ten points and three steals, while Ripley put up eight points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Goodson, who had five points and three steals.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashley Perdion, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Bridget Barber, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points.

Deer Park's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

Deer Park will be taking part in a tournament against Medfield at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. Brecksville-Broadview Heights and Potomac School will round out the year against one another at at 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
