Basketball Game Preview: Niwot Cougars vs. Pomona Panthers + How To Watch

The Niwot Cougars will take on the Pomona Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Niwot will be strutting in after a victory while Pomona will be coming in after a defeat.

Niwot not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 17th (when they won 57-27). They blew past Mountain Range 51-30. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Ella Zechman and Samantha Johnson were among the main playmakers for Niwot as the former posted 15 points and six rebounds and the latter earned six points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those 15 points gave Zechman a new career-high. LilyRae Bernstein was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Pomona came up short against Thornton on Monday and fell 30-21.

Despite the loss, Pomona saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Audrianna Mondragon scored 12 points and five rebounds. That was a full 57.1% of the Panthers' points, marking the fourth time in a row Mondragon has had more than a third of the team's points.

Pomona's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Niwot, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Niwot took their victory against Pomona in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 52-30 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
