Baseball Preview: Turpin Cardinals vs. Laverne Tigers
Turpin is 0-6 against Laverne since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Cardinals are taking a road trip to face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Turpin is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Turpin proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Seiling 2-1.
Carson Peters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Mason Nelson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Hunter Isaacs also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Laverne's offense. They came up short against Hooker on Thursday, falling 12-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Laverne's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Turpin, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
