Softball Game Preview: Assumption Royals vs. Newman Fighting Cardinals

For the second straight game, Assumption will face off against Newman. The Royals will welcome the Fighting Cardinals at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Assumption has five straight victories, Newman has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Assumption is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Newman on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Royals with their most commanding win of the season.

Assumption's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Newman, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
