Solanco is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Lampeter-Strasburg is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Golden Mules will welcome the Pioneers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Solanco got the win against Cocalico by a conclusive 16-1.
Solanco got a massive performance out of Delaney Gote, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Carey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Solanco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .706. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lampeter-Strasburg got themselves on the board against Governor Mifflin on Thursday, but Governor Mifflin never followed suit. They blew past the Mustangs 15-0.
Natalie Hill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hill was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Lampeter-Strasburg let Paige Baxter and Lily Kuhns run wild. Baxter went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Kuhns got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Isabelle King was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Lampeter-Strasburg is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Solanco, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.
Solanco's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Golden Mules have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lampeter-Strasburg, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Solanco continue to outrun the ball?
Solanco took their victory against Lampeter-Strasburg when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Golden Mules repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
