Baseball Recap: Foresthill Takes a Loss

Foresthill extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 11-9. They lost 19-0 to the Valley Christian Lions. The shutout was out of character for the Wildfires seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for Valley Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The result was nothing new for Valley Christian, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Valley Christian's part, Kurt Haase made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Haase has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Max Abbott was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Nathan Yuen was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foresthill will host Buckingham Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildfires' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Valley Christian, they will square off against Marysville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
