Andrews has gone a perfect 10-0 against Greenwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Andrews will challenge Greenwood at 6:30 p.m. Andrews is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
While Andrews' win against Monahans wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Andrews narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Monahans 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kylie Gentile tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Lauren Cordova was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, Greenwood entered their tilt with Fort Stockton on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 9-4.
Addison Arredondo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Arredondo was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Greenwood let Brylee Savage and Mae Savage run wild. Brylee went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Mae scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Those four RBI gave Brylee a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkley Jenkins, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Andrews pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood, the victory got them back to even at 12-12-1.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Andrews hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. However, it's not like Greenwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Andrews skirted past Greenwood 10-8 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Andrews since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
