Basketball Recap: Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Christian Academy lost against Pee Dee Academy last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Christian Academy Saints came up short against the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles, falling 37-13. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 97th).

Despite the defeat, Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vanessa Lopes posted two points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Lopes a new career-high. Catherine Mae Hortman also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 3-14. As for Pee Dee Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Christian Academy nor Pee Dee Academy have any future games scheduled.
