Preview: Windham Whippets vs. St. Bernard Saints
Windham is 1-9 against St. Bernard since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Windham Whippets will look to defend their home court against the St. Bernard Saints at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Windham's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Windham pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 91-58 defeat at the hands of Manchester. While losing is never fun, Windham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Manchester is ranked 19th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Tahj Jones, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malcolm Hunter, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, St. Bernard had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They walked away with a 70-59 win over Staples. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Windham's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for St. Bernard, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Things could have been worse for Windham, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-45 loss to St. Bernard in their previous matchup back in February of 2023.
