California School for the Deaf-Riverside hadn't done well against California Lutheran recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cubs came out on top against the C-Hawks by a score of 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Cubs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

California School for the Deaf-Riverside had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19.

California Lutheran's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Le, who had ten digs and two aces. Emily French also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

California School for the Deaf-Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for California Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. California School for the Deaf-Riverside will square off against United Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for California Lutheran, they will take on Hamilton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
