Baseball Game Preview: Waupun Warriors vs. Watertown Goslings

The Waupun Warriors will square off against the Watertown Goslings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Watertown took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Waupun, who comes in off a win.

Waupun is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since May 2, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Denmark 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Chase Beahm and Logan Prall made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Beahm pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Prall pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Beahm a new career-high in strikeouts (two). At the plate, Beahm scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Prall scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Trey Schmidt was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Firari, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, Watertown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Kettle Moraine.

Calvin Hurtgen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jacob Hurtgen, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Waupun was able to grind out a solid victory over Watertown in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, winning 7-3. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Goslings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
