Basketball Recap: Antione Wooten and Braylon Benson Secure Win for Padua Franciscan

There's no place like home for Padua Franciscan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 70-58 win over the Kenston Bombers on Friday. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Leading Padua Franciscan to victory were Braylon Benson and Antione Wooten. Benson went 7-for-14 on his way to 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Wooten shot 77% from the field en route to 24 points and five boards. Wooten has also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 55% every time he's hit the court this season. Geo Smith also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Kenston's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kahlil Hinton, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ethan Burge, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Padua Franciscan's record is now 3-1. As for Kenston, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Padua Franciscan and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Bruins' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Kenston will take on Hudson in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
