Baseball Recap: Rye's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rangely, Rye was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Hoehne Farmers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Thunderbolts as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Branson Burbidge made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pierce Burris, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Grant Clennin was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-14. As for Hoehne, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rye beat the Farmers by a score of 6-1 later that day.
