Softball Recap: Jefferson Forest Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Jefferson Forest got themselves on the board against Gretna on Monday, but Gretna never followed suit. They blew past the Hawks 12-0. With that victory, the Cavaliers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Mati Gouldthorpe was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashleigh Johnson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Jefferson Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gretna only posted an OBP of .167.

The win keeps Jefferson Forest at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Gretna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Gretna will challenge Tunstall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tunstall's pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Gretna's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Jefferson Forest will be paying especially close attention to Gretna's contest: after Gretna faces off against Tunstall, they'll take on Jefferson Forest again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
