Basketball Game Preview: Dayton Dust Devils vs. Carson Senators

The Dayton Dust Devils just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Carson Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dayton's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so Carson's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Dayton is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Douglas just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a blow as they fell 58-40 to the Tigers.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carson). They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 72-39 victory over Hug. The win continues a trend for the Senators in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won six in a row.

Dayton better focus on containing Ashlan Smokey and Emjae Salanoa as the pair were huge in Carson's win. Smokey went 13-for-32 on her way to 33 points and four steals, while Salanoa shot 53% from the field to rack up 17 points and three steals. Those 33 points gave Smokey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camila Rosas, who posted eight points.

Carson's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Dayton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Dayton was dealt a bruising 62-12 loss at the hands of Carson when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Dust Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
