Basketball Game Preview: Jasper Vikings vs. Cullman Bearcats

Jasper is 0-6 against Cullman since November of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Jasper Vikings will challenge the Cullman Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Jasper got the win against Mortimer Jordan by a conclusive 70-45. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 games by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Cullman entered their tilt with Fultondale on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Wildcats 71-57. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Wildcats are ranked 176th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cullman's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-4. As for Jasper, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-8.

Jasper suffered a grim 68-42 defeat to Cullman when the teams last played last Monday. Can Jasper avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
