Baseball Recap: Wister Beats Hartshorne for Their Fourth Straight Win

Wister waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Hartshorne Miners as they made off with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 17 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Joel Meeh looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Preston Perez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayden Byars, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Wister always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hartshorne only posted an OBP of .263.

Wister's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Hartshorne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Wister and Hartshorne are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wildcats will square off against Arapaho on Thursday. As for Hartshorne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Meeker at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
