Basketball Recap: Haynes Academy Takes a Loss

Haynes Academy lost against Riverdale back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Haynes Academy took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverdale Rebels. While losing is never fun, Haynes Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Riverdale is ranked 151st).

Riverdale was led to victory by Byron Perrilliat and Debron Sykes. Perrilliat went 12 for 21 en route to 30 points and six steals, while Sykes went 8 of 15 on his way to 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. What's more, Perrilliat also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Cameron Bridges was another key player, putting up eight points.

Haynes Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Riverdale, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Haynes Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Benjamin Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Benjamin Franklin will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Haynes Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Riverdale, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against East Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
