Preview: Emporia Spartans vs. Southeast Golden Buffalo
The Emporia Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Southeast Golden Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Emporia has five straight wins, Southeast has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Emporia earned a 53-41 win over Manhattan.
Southeast suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 66-27 defeat at the hands of Bishop Carroll.
Despite the defeat, Southeast had strong showings from Alana Webb, who scored 14 points, and Leela Jones, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. That was a full 51.9% of Southeast's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Emporia pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Southeast, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
