Softball Recap: Crest Finds Playoff Glory Versus Forestview

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Crest had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Forestview Jaguars with a sharp 13-1 win. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

Aidan Ledbetter made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Crest got a massive performance out of Sage McCurry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits McCurry has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Josi Downey, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Crest pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Forestview, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Looking ahead, Crest will square off against Parkwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolf Pack have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. Forestview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
