Softball Game Preview: Haynes Academy vs. Newman Greenies

Haynes Academy will take on the Newman Greenies at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Haynes Academy fell victim to Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 9-0. Haynes Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Newman lost 28-18 to University Lab on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (13), the Greenies still had to take the loss.

Madison Able led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyse Dulitz, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Even though they lost, Newman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Haynes Academy, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
