Basketball Recap: Caldwell Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matches, Caldwell finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Mountain View Mavericks 80-30. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mountain View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Starnes, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Harris, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.

With the loss, Caldwell broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2. As for Mountain View, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Caldwell Cougars take on the Ontario Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Caldwell is facing Ontario at the right time seeing as Ontario is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Mountain View will take on Meridian in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
