Baseball Recap: Robinson Takes a Loss

After flying high against Red Hill last Monday, Robinson came back down to earth. The Maroons took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Clay/Clay City on Tuesday. If the Maroons were looking for revenge after losing 8-2 to North Clay/Clay City when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Robinson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reese Johnson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Robinson's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for North Clay/Clay City, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Robinson will challenge Mattoon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Maroons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greenwave have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for North Clay/Clay City, they will square off against Woodlawn at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Clay/Clay City are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
