Softball Recap: Deer Park Has No Trouble Against East Valley

Deer Park lost to East Valley on Saturday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Stags were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Stags, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Mady Ellingson made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Ellingson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Deer Park let Kapri Bailey and Sammy Fausti run wild. Bailey went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run, while Fausti went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Bailey has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Lathrop, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Deer Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Deer Park's record now sits at 16-1. As for East Valley, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Coming up, Deer Park will welcome West Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.07 runs per game on average), something the Stags will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Valley, they will head out to take on North Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights are facing the Wolfpack at the right time seeing as the Wolfpack are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
