Basketball Recap: Denton's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Denton was riding high fresh off their 79-59 takedown of Ryan last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Denton Broncos took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Birdville Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Hawks are ranked 25th).

Despite the loss, Denton still got an impressive performance from Ethan Sheats, who posted 22 points. The game was Sheats' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Torres, who put up nine points.

Denton's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-12. As for Birdville, the victory (which was their 23rd in a row) raised their record to 26-1.

Denton is taking a road trip to face off against Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Birdville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ryan at 7:00 p.m. Birdville is facing Ryan at the right time seeing as Ryan is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
