Softball Preview: Avon Lake Shoremen vs. Avon Eagles
Avon Lake is 0-10 against Avon since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Shoremen will take on the Eagles at 4:45 p.m. Avon Lake will be strutting in after a win while Avon will be coming in after a defeat.
Avon Lake took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Steele, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Shoremen skirted past the Comets 11-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Shoremen considering their two-run performance the match before.
Isabelle Schilens was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Briana Webster also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Avon Lake lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Avon might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Steele who claimed the real prize. The Eagles fell just short of the Comets by a score of 3-2. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Avon Lake's record now sits at 4-9. As for Avon, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
