Baseball Recap: Center Hill Takes a Loss

Center Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Panola Tigers. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Mac Atkins was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Center Hill's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for South Panola, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

While Center Hill had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
