Volleyball Recap: Mahopac Indians vs. Rye Garnets
If Mahopac was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Poughkeepsie last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mahopac Indians came up short against the Rye Garnets on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Garnets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Mahopac was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Rye work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-10, 25-21.
Mahopac lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Andriana DiVincenzo, who had 14 digs, three kills, and three aces. DiVincenzo is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Vitiello, who had 12 digs and seven kills.
Mahopac's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Rye, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mahopac will welcome Yorktown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rye, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
