Basketball Recap: Coahulla Creek Extends Winning Streak to Six

Coahulla Creek had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They walked away with a 65-56 win over the Ridgeland Panthers. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Panthers are ranked 478th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Coahulla Creek had a senior duo take command as Gage Voyles went 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points along with seven boards and three steals and Cullen Marti dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Voyles has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Waelyn Baliles, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Coahulla Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeland only pulled down six offensive boards.

Ridgeland lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being TJ Foster, who went 10 of 22 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Mitchell, who posted 11 points.

Coahulla Creek's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Ridgeland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coahulla Creek will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North Murray at 4:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Coahulla Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.7 points per game this season. Ridgeland also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Northwest Whitfield at 5:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
