After only one  run in their last  game, Ventura made sure to put some  runs up on the board against Hueneme  on Wednesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by  a  12-2 margin over the Vikings. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by ten  runs or more this season.
 Jayla Raya made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  pitched five innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   seven  hits. She has been consistent  recently: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-3 with one  home run. That  home run marked the first that  she  launched this season.
 In other batting news,  Tessa Denger was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  doubles (two). Another player making a difference was  Makayla Halley, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Ventura  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in 14 consecutive  contests.
Ventura has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Hueneme, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ventura will welcome Oxnard  at 3:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 8.4  runs per game this season. As for Hueneme, they will take on Buena at 3:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
