Baseball Recap: Clayton's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After a string of six wins, Clayton's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffaloes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-5 back in March.

Jeremiah Short put in work no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Clayton's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 3-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Short was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Draven Ardnt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Clayton now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Buffalo Valley, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clayton will square off against Arkoma at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Buffalo Valley, they will take on Smithville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
