Basketball Recap: Calhoun Falls Charter Takes a Loss

Calhoun Falls Charter has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 53-43 to the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans on Tuesday. The matchup was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but the Blue Flashes couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Calhoun Falls Charter still got an impressive performance from Autumn Thomas, who posted 30 points. That was a full 69.8% of Calhoun Falls Charter's points, marking the fourth time in a row Thomas has had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Sanders, who scored six points along with ten boards and five blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridge Spring-Monetta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taylah Leaphart, who went 10-for-24 to rack up 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Leaphart is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ny'Asia Young, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards.

Calhoun Falls Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Calhoun Falls Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they are taking a road trip to challenge Lee Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lee Central will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Ridge Spring-Monetta surely won't give up without a fight.
