Volleyball Recap: Woburn Memorial's Run of Seven Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of seven wins, Woburn Memorial's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Needham Rockets.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 25-14.

Several Tanners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mateo Qirjazi, who had 39 assists. Qirjazi has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more assists the last 20 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rohan Patel, who had 18 digs.

Woburn Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Needham, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Woburn Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Needham, they will square off against Lowell at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Rockets have won three straight at home, while the Red Raiders won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
