Baseball Recap: Monarch Coyotes vs. Broomfield Eagles
Monarch had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it five. They came up short against the Broomfield Eagles, falling 18-3. The Coyotes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Monarch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Broomfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
On Broomfield's side, Ethan Zufall looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Zufall has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Caden Williamson was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Talan Hutchings was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Monarch didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-1 win against Niwot on the 15th. As for Broomfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Silver Creek on the 15th.
