Eastern Coteau (9 Man) recap Oct. 16, 2012
Clark/Willow Lake extended the longest winning streak in Eastern Coteau (9 Man) this week by beating Great Plains Lutheran, 66-14. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Cyclones.
Waverly/South Shore took down Waubay/Summit 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Sam Pond threw for 30 yards and one touchdown and ran for 17 yards in the win.
Phil Bunkowske provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers fell to Clark/Willow Lake. He completed 10 passes for 165 yards and one touchdown and also ran for five yards. Bunkowske's favorite target this week was Mitchell Giovannettone, who caught seven passes for 119 yards.
Dylan Lick put up the best numbers through the air as Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] bested Tiospa Zina. He finished with a total of five completions for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Lick's favorite target this week was Adam Krueger, who caught two passes for 71 yards.
Dustin Quiram was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 109 yards on 11 carries as Hamlin lost to the Cyclones. Ben Koisti also contributed to the rushing game with 75 yards on the ground.
Dylan Reuer made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Chargers topped Florence/Henry. The 6-foot-3 junior racked up one sack.
Wilmot's Austin Hulscher and Landon Hammer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hulscher has thrown for 1529 yards this season, while Hammer, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 42 catches for 888 yards. Quiram from Hamlin leads the league in rushing with 865 yards.
A big matchup in Eastern Coteau (9 Man) this week will be when Jeff Sheehan's team takes on the Wolves. The Chargers are currently in first, while Wilmot is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when Hamlin and Larry Hulscher's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Chargers comes in having scored 318 this season, while the Wolves have scored 311. Hamlin scored 46 points last week as it defeated the Flyers.
Clark/Willow Lake led the league in scoring this week after putting up 66 points on Jeff Roloff's team.
