Basketball Game Preview: Huntley Red Raiders vs. Rockford East E-Rabs

The Huntley Red Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Rockford East E-Rabs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Friday, Huntley didn't have quite enough to beat McHenry and fell 47-44. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Warriors are ranked 76th).

Guilford typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Rockford East proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vikings, sneaking past 60-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the E-Rabs.

Huntley better keep an eye on MiKwan Marshall. He was instrumental in Rockford East's win, going 7-for-10 to rack up 20 points. The dominant performance gave Marshall a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarion McFadden-Leach, who posted ten points.

Rockford East's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-12. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points over those games. As for Huntley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season.

Huntley won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, slipping by Rockford East 49-48. Does Huntley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rockford East turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
