Volleyball Recap: Hays Hawks vs. St. Andrew's Highlanders

Hays extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-10. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Andrew's Highlanders. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Kayley Beaman paced Hays' offense, picking up ten kills. Beaman got some help from Zoe Siciliano and her 31 assists. Olivia Conway and Bella Obiefuna kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

As for St. Andrew's, their record now sits at 12-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since August 15th.

St. Andrew's can attribute much of their success to Savannah ('Savy') Cook, who had 19 digs and two assists. That's the most digs ('Savy') Cook has posted over her last five games. Aneesa Ravula also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Hays wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against San Antonio Patriots HomeSchool on the 29th. As for St. Andrew's, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Medina Valley on the 29th.
